PUTRAJAYA, Aug 25 (Bernama) -- Only the mufti can decide whether the swearing by Mohd Saiful Bukhari Azlan that he had been sodomised by Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim was in line with Islam, not the imam who was present during the ceremony, Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak said today. He said that apart from Saiful, the mufti was the main person at the swearing ceremony while the imam was only present and did not play a principal role.
The deputy prime minister was speaking to reporters after closing a seminar on the Latest Technology of Scanner Machine here.
He was asked to comment on Imam Ramlang Porigi's statement that Ramlang refused to be associated with the swearing ceremony as his presence was a mere coincidence.
Mohd Saiful, Anwar's former aide, swore at the Federal Territory Mosque in Kuala Lumpur on Aug 15 that he had been sodomised by Anwar.
On the appointment of former Transparency International Malaysia chairman Tunku Aziz Tunku Ibrahim as the DAP vice-chairman 24 hours after being admitted as a member, Najib said it was the DAP's decision.
